Bridal Week London 2023 – Top Bridal Trends

Bridal Week London is one of the hottest events of the bridal industry calendar, and at Betty Gets Hitched we enjoyed visiting the show at the Excel earlier this year; we were excited to get a sneak peek into next season’s trends for wedding dresses and bridal accessories. With bridal designers from both the UK and internationally leading the way in upcoming trends, we’ve picked out some of the most prominent styles which brides will want to watch out for this coming bridal season.

Statement sleeves

Sleeves have proven popular over the last few years in bridal with different variations, and the statement sleeve which was seen a lot in last season’s wedding dresses is certainly here to stay! On the catwalk Madi Lane Bridal showcased some standout wedding dresses with sleeves, including a sheer tulle puff sleeve contrasted against a fitted silhouette with beautifully delicate detailing on the shoulders for a dramatic and chic bridal look.

Fuller skirts for the win

Bridal is back in the land of full and fabulous, with the A-line silhouette taking centre stage. Weddings became much more intimate during the pandemic as guest numbers had to be cut down to a minimum, so now that weddings can be bigger and more extravagant again many brides want a dress to match! We saw some beautiful and elegant A-line wedding dresses by many different designers, and variations from sleeker satins to voluminous ruffles, sparkling tulle, and bold ornate guipure lace.

All that glitters

We saw a real touch of sparkle on the catwalk and in the new collections during Bridal Week London; glittery tulle layers and embellished lace was a solid theme for many of the designers. Taking in the upcoming wedding dress trends there’s a definite shift from simpler, more understated wedding dress styles to more detailed wedding dresses for an ultra-glam bridal look. We saw this in both fitted silhouettes and layered A-line dresses; it’s a wonderful way to add some sparkle to your wedding day look whilst keeping your bridal accessories minimal, giving a chic and modern bridal vibe.

Floral wedding dresses with a pop of colour

We saw some sublime colourful floral detailing as the focus of many wedding dresses by various bridal designers at the show. The large spectrum of designs ranged from delicate designs such a pastel floral beauty with a full A-line skirt and puff off-shoulder sleeves from Josephine Scott, to stunning bold floral wedding dresses by Ronald Joyce including a fitted beauty with the most striking colour palette. A floral wedding dress is ideal for the bride who wants to break away from the traditional ivory wedding dress and loves more than a splash of colour!

Sleek bridal separates

Increasingly popular over the past few years, we saw some chic bridal separates styles strutting along the catwalk for this coming bridal season. Fitted luxe crepe skirts paired with detailed lace tops and short puff sleeves were seen in Rebecca Ingram’s new bridal collection, giving versatile looks for a trendy city wedding or laid-back beach vibes for a destination wedding.

Bridal capes and elaborate veils

This coming bridal season is all about the statement accessory for added wow factor to your bridal look. We saw hooded lace bridal capes in Rachel Allen’s collection, and soft flowing tulle styles similar to our Willow bridal cape design which gives a romantic and ethereal bridal look. There’s also a shift from the simpler to more detailed wedding veils; we saw bold lace edged bridal veils and tulle veils scattered with pearls, much like our Piper pearl veil.

It’s clear that the latest bridal trends are championing a more dramatic bridal look. Playing with embellished details, colour, and fuller silhouettes the upcoming season encapsulates the ultimate feel of bridal glamour with a touch of romance. At Betty Gets Hitched we’re excited to help brides to choose and style some amazing wedding day looks over the coming months!
